Expanding Access at Paynes Prairie – You Can Help Us Reach the Goal!

Friends of Paynes Prairie, together with Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, are proud to launch a program that expands access to the prairie for all community members. Thanks to a generous $10,000 grant from Florida Blue, facilitated by the Florida State Parks Foundation, we were able to purchase an EcoRover All-Terrain Wheelchair and the custom trailer needed to store and transport it.

This isn’t just any wheelchair — the EcoRover is designed with tank-style tracks that allow visitors with mobility challenges to independently explore trails that would otherwise be inaccessible. From birdwatching on the La Chua Trail to enjoying ranger-led programs, the EcoRover makes it possible for everyone to experience the beauty and wonder of Paynes Prairie.

But we’re only halfway there. While the grant gave us the opportunity to deliver the EcoRover and trailer to the park, Friends of Paynes Prairie now needs to raise additional funds to fully fund the program. Your donation ensures that this equipment can be maintained, safely stored, and made available for years to come.

With your support, we can ensure that everyone—regardless of physical ability—has the chance to connect with the wild, untamed beauty of Paynes Prairie.
